Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
0 - 3 Days Post tattoo:
Remove cling wrap after 2 hours and give the tattoo a gentle wash under warm water using your normal body soap or an unscented antibacterial wash - pat dry with clean paper towel. (For the first night you should have a clean towel and sheets.) Over the next three days allow your tattoo to dry out, cleaning it daily in the shower but do not moisturise yet.
During this time do not swim, bathe or soak your tattoo - this may lead to infection or poor healing.
4 - 14 Days Post Tattoo:
Moisturise 1-2 times daily with unscented moisturiser or tattoo balm (dr. Pickles, etc). Use only a small amount, you should apply a very thin layer and never soak your tattoo in cream. The tattoo may become itchy during this time, but try not to pick or scratch as this will cause scarring and ink fallout.
14 - 30 Days Post Tattoo:
Continue to moisturise daily. During this time you will notice your tattoo starting to finally settle into your skin and no longer be shiny. It is fully healed after the month point.
Second Skin:
If second skin is applied after your tattoo, keep this on for 3-4 days. During this time you can shower and swim with it on. If you notice it has become unstuck in any areas during this time or your skin is reacting to the adhesive you should remove it immediately. Remove second skin under running water and gently peel is back from the top corner, allowing water to run underneath. Clean tattoo and pat dry with clean paper towel.
Continue with the above aftercare instructions from day 4.
Long Term Tattoo Care Tips:
- SUNSCREEN! If you plan on being in sunlight for prolonged periods of time (more than 30mins) apply sunscreen. The sun will fade the ink in your tattoo and you will lose lighter areas and shading with time. Try to limit exposure to direct sunlight.
- it's great to moisturise your tattoo in general, keep doing this even after it's healed.
